Ramadan food parcels for thousands of Palestinians
Islamic Relief Palestine distributed thousands of Ramadan food parcels in Gaza Strip and the West Bank contributing in alleviating the hard living circumstances facing families and helping those families during this blissful month.
The project included distribution of nearly 10 thousands food parcels benefiting 4080families in Gaza Strip and 5,200 families in the West Bank with special focus on orphan families and those with special needs.
This project is one of Islamic Relief seasonal projects which are implemented yearly in cooperation with humanitarian local NGOs and municipalities. Those partners provide lists of poor families and beneficiaries are later selected according to specific criteria.
Rami Mahani, Emergency & Relief Manager, said, “The food distribution was based on a plan where the families with the worst economic and living conditions are the priority to receive the parcels. There have been three distribution points in West Bank and five distribution points in Gaza Strip.”
Mr. Mahani added, “The food parcel includes basic commodities such as rice, lintels, beans, sugar, oil, pasta, cheese and canned meat and others.”
Riyad Salah is one of the beneficiaries from Wad Fokin Village, western Bethlehem. He said, “This Ramadan parcel helps in feeding my five children well during this month. Such support really reached those in need and I thank all those who exerted efforts to help us.”
Islamic Relief implements a number of relief projects such as Ramadan project and distribution of Qurbani meat and other health and nutrition projects such as provision of medical equipments and machines and school feeding project for students in marginalized areas.
