New Eid Clothing for Orphaned Children in the West Bank
Islamic Relief distributes new clothing to hundreds of orphaned children in the West Bank. The distribution of the new clothing, which comes on the occasion of Eid ul Fiter, the Islamic holiday marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan, aims at lessening the burden carried by fatherless households which cannot afford to buy new clothing for children in celebration of this holiday. In this way, Islamic Relief helps to create a sense of equality between orphaned children and their peers and to better integrate them into their local communities.
Each of the benefiting children received new attire and a pair of new shoes . The distribution took place in the districts of Jenin, Tubas, Tulkarem, Qlaqilia, Hebron and Bethlehem.
According to Sabya Al Khatib, the West Bank coordinator of the orphan sponsorship program, the project aimed at helping households that have lost their main breadwinner cope with difficult economic conditions. “The project aims at enabling orphaned children to enjoy and celebrate the Eid holiday like other children,” she also said.
